Gift List: How Cecilie N. Hartmann Makes Mother's Day Special
Rip & Tan: Describe your ideal Mother’s Day—what are you doing? What are you wearing?
Cecilie N. Hartmann: For my perfect Mother’s Day, I’d prioritize self-care and relaxation, which can often be sidelined in the whirlwind of motherhood. I would start the day by sleeping in, followed by breakfast in bed prepared by my family, accompanied by plenty of kisses from my daughters. Afterward, I’d enjoy a leisurely stroll or a quick workout to energize myself. Then, I would love to indulge in a spa session, perhaps a massage or a manicure. Finally, I’d love to end the day with a romantic dinner out, enjoying delicious food and wine.
As for attire, I’d choose something comfy yet chic, maybe my long white linen skirt paired with a light sweater and ballet flats.
Rip & Tan: Anything particular on your wishlist this year?
Cecilie N. Hartmann: This year, I haven’t made any specific wishes. I love surprises from my partner and children, for me, it’s the thought that truly counts. However, I would always appreciate a session with a masseuse or another relaxing treatment.

Rip & Tan: How has motherhood shifted your approach to everyday style?
Cecilie N. Hartmann: Motherhood has definitely influenced my approach to everyday style. I find myself gravitating towards more practical and classic pieces that are easy to wear and maintain. Comfort and functionality have become top priorities, whereas before, I might have been more focused on following trends. Becoming a mother has brought a newfound appreciation for simplicity and versatility in my wardrobe choices.
Rip & Tan: What’s the best advice you’ve been given or lesson you’ve learned since becoming a mother?
Cecilie N. Hartmann: One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned since becoming a mother is not to compare my child’s development with others. Each child is unique, with their own timeline of growth and milestones. It’s crucial to focus on their individual progress and celebrate their achievements, no matter how big or small.
Rip & Tan: When it comes to getting your little ones dressed, what’s your typical strategy?
Cecilie N. Hartmann: When it comes to dressing my little ones, my strategy has evolved. I used to save my favorite clothes for special occasions, but I found they hardly got worn. Now, both girls wear them regularly, and I’m not bothered by stains from daycare or playtime. A good stain remover takes care of those.
Rip & Tan: When in doubt, what’s one gift any mother would love?
Cecilie N. Hartmann: When in doubt, any mother would love a thoughtful gift, such as a spa day experience, jewelry, or a fragrance.
Rip & Tan: What’s one way we can make Mother’s Day extra special this year?
Cecilie N. Hartmann: One way to make Mother’s Day extra special this year is by sending loving messages to all the mothers we know, expressing our appreciation and giving them some extra love. Especially after becoming a mother myself, I’ve gained immense respect for all the mothers out there.
