Travel Diaries: Our Team’s Summer Getaways

August 26, 2022

As much as we treasure the simple joys of time spent close to home, we can’t help but believe that summer was made for getaways. Perhaps it’s the perpetual sunshine or the thrill of curating a travel capsule intended solely for wandering around a warm, new locale, but this season, in particular, holds a connotation for travel that we are always compelled to indulge—and, if you ask us, nobody does a summer getaway better than the well-dressed women of our own team. For the many ways they made this a summer to remember—and every must-have piece they wore along the way—keep reading for our final rendition of the Travel Diaries.

Travel Diaries: Our Team’s Summer Getaways

Roti Brown, Content Manager

This summer we spent seven days exploring Mexico City and Puerto Escondido. It was such a relaxing trip. The contrast between the bustling urban city and a quiet beach town made for the perfect two-location getaway.

Mexico City is extremely rich in culture, so we had a long list of restaurants, museums, and historical homes we wanted to visit. We were impressed by every stop. Some highlights were our stay at Circulo Mexicano in Mexico City, a beautifully designed hotel right in the center square, and the meal we had at Pujol, a seven-course tasting menu that included Chef Enrique Olivera’s famous dish Mole Madre.

Puerto Escondido was all about relaxation. It was a dream to soak up the sun, take in the views, and do nothing for a few days.

I try as much as possible to land between comfortable and chic with my vacation style. Walkable shoes that still complement my outfit and stylish fabrics that are breathable enough for hot weather and soft enough for all-day wear are a must. It’s also important to me that I match the environment. For my Mexico visit, it was important to me that the silhouettes and fabrics were reflective of my setting. I packed a lot of linens, cotton, and woven accessories.

My now-husband and I went on our much-anticipated honeymoon in Italy. We did Rome, Florence, the Tuscan countryside, and a little town down south called Bernalda in Basilicata. One of our stops in Tuscany was out of this world. I didn’t expect much from it, but I really felt like I was living in a dream. I think it was the most beautiful place I’ve ever been.

In terms of my packing list, I practically lived in the Rio Slip Dress and Cove Dress, and I wore our Leather Knot Sandal almost every day. That shoe is an actual hero.

Also underrated but amazing for travel and so comfortable: our Rib Tank and Vintage Pocket Tee. And no getaway would be complete without the Cruise Cocoon and Oversized Crewneck—just perfect for summer travel.

My husband and I just moved to a new town in the Pacific Northwest, so we didn’t have any big trips planned for the early summer. Being in a brand new place has been exciting enough! We’ve spent a lot of time outside in the sun—floating in the river, trips to the lake, and lots of BBQs in our backyard.

In terms of summer style, I like to stick to simple pieces with a couple of fun dresses and tops to wear for more dressy occasions. It’s all about effortlessness to me!

The Bianca Pant is a staple of mine because it can be thrown over a swimsuit or dressed up for dinner. I also will always have a crewneck sweater—the Oversized Crewneck is my new favorite—on hand and the Crochet Raffia Sun Hat, of course.
