Curated By Annie Meyers-Shyer: The Holiday Gift Guide

November 24, 2025

Say hello to our annual Holiday Gift Guide, where each week we turn to our favorite tastemakers for inspiration on what—and how—to give this season. In this edition, we sat down with design enthusiast Annie Meyers-Shyer, who restored a historic Los Angeles home known as This Oak House and transformed it into a beautifully layered curation of craftsmanship and thoughtful detail. Just as design lives in the details, gifting does too, and Annie shares the intentional ways she’s approaching the holidays this year below.

A cozy living room in this oak house features a wood chair, coffee table, and fireplace adorned with greenery and two white stockings. Text reads: Gift List, curated by Annie Meyers-Shyer.

Rip & Tan: What’s your approach to gifting this year?

Annie Meyers-Shyer: I love finding gifts throughout the year and saving them for the holidays. I learned that from my dad. I also like listening closely and making a mental note of someone’s favorites. My sister was here the other day and mentioned that she loved a certain chef but did not know he had a cookbook. I bought it right away and will save it for her.

Rip & Tan: How do you find the right gift for different people in your life?

Annie Meyers-Shyer: Listening, not rushing, and planning ahead.

Rip & Tan: Do you have a signature way of wrapping gifts?

Annie Meyers-Shyer: This year, I am doing green on green. Green matte wrapping, green satin ribbon, maybe velvet. Always double-faced.

Rip & Tan: Any staple traditions you’re looking forward to?

Annie Meyers-Shyer: This is our first year in our new house, so I am excited for every tradition. I cannot wait to see where we put our tree and to spend our first Christmas morning here.

Rip & Tan: What are the simplest ways that someone can decorate their home for the holidays? What can someone do if they want to go all out?

Annie Meyers-Shyer: If you want to go all out, head to Instagram and Pinterest. There is so much amazing inspiration. I love decorating outdoors and then focusing on my snug and my dining room inside. Fill a bowl with ornaments, hang a wreath on a mirror, and put a garland over a doorway. The holidays are my Super Bowl.

Rip & Tan: What are your favorite ways to make a limited space feel festive but not cluttered?

Annie Meyers-Shyer: A simple holiday candle, some festive greens, and music, of course. My sister has the best Spotify playlist for the holidays.
