DIY: Pickled Cherries

February 16, 2016

Three glass jars filled with dark jam are covered with burlap fabric and tied with string, sitting on a white tablecloth outdoors, with green foliage in the background.

As I shared earlier this week, recent years have found me more and more interested in the art of preserving fruits and veggies (my intro to pickled vegetables seen here). So on a recent busy afternoon in the kitchen, not only did I try my hand at canning the beautiful cherries I picked up at the farmers market, I also used this recipe to pickle cherries as well. The end result was so delicious, and made even more sweet by the addition of burlap, twine and a sprig of fresh thyme. And, I’ve got all sorts of plans for the fruits of my labor. So versatile, they can be used in countless different ways, but one of my favorites is as a topper for a bright and flavorful salad. XXJKE
