Rip & Tan: Can you start by walking us through your typical process?

Matthew Leverone: Our approach to every project is holistic. We consider the location, architecture, and most importantly, the client’s lifestyle. These factors guide us in shaping the design language of the interior. From there, we carefully layer in furniture, lighting, and materials. By weaving these elements together, we create a well-crafted, warm, and inviting home.

Rip & Tan: How would you describe your design ethos?

Matthew Leverone: Our team takes a collaborative approach, focusing on the right scale, proportion, and craftsmanship, with attention to every detail. We create interiors that are simple yet richly layered, highlighting beautiful forms and textures. Our success is measured by how well we understand our clients’ vision and enhance their everyday lives.

Rip & Tan: What was the initial vision for this home?

Matthew Leverone: With such a large house, we had to rethink how each space functioned and styled each area. We began by redefining the scale of the rooms, changing how people interacted within them. Once we got the proportions right, the materials and furniture naturally fell into place. Gradually, we reimagined the entire property, from the interior to the exterior.

Rip & Tan: Your work brings soul into a space by turning to classic, artful pieces. How do you approach sourcing items for a space to ensure a room is livable yet unique?

Matthew Leverone: We love incorporating vintage or artisan pieces into our projects because they add soul and character. It’s crucial that each piece has its own voice without overshadowing the others. This thoughtful balance creates a perfect dialogue between items while ensuring the room remains both livable and comfortable.

Rip & Tan: Are there any particular details you feel most proud of? What about them feels so special to you?

Matthew Leverone: The house is filled with unique details, but I’m especially fond of the Rogan Gregory Pendant in the family room. It makes a bold statement and sets the room’s tone. We also reimagined the pool house, changing every architectural detail. We rethought its function to create a perfect, distinctive destination for our client’s guests, separate from the main house.

Rip & Tan: What’s something exciting or inspiring you lately?

Matthew Leverone: A recent trip to Art Basel Switzerland meeting gallerists and artists was truly inspiring. It was educational and enlightening, art plays a key role in our projects.
