Curated By Husband Wife: The Holiday Gift Guide
December 01, 2025
Say hello to our annual Holiday Gift Guide, where each week we turn to our favorite tastemakers for inspiration on what—and how—to give this season. In this edition, we chatted to Brittney Hart and Justin Capuco, the founding partners of New York-based design firm Husband Wife. To no one’s surprise, their perspective on the holidays is informed by their appreciation for craft, function, and simple ritual. Keep reading for the duo’s thoughtful approach to gifting this year, from artisan-made treasures to elevated everyday luxuries.
Curated By Husband Wife: The Holiday Gift Guide
Rip & Tan: What’s your approach to gifting this year?
Brittney Hart and Justin Capuco: We always try to involve either local or charitable makers when considering what to give everyone each year. Last year, we worked with a candle maker in the city here in New York to develop a custom scent for the studio. This year, we’re excited to be working with a women’s organization in Morocco called Alnour on some gifting.
Rip & Tan: How do you find the right gift for different people in your life?
Brittney Hart and Justin Capuco: Sentimental value comes with sincere consideration, knowing what niche gesture might mean the most to someone. When in doubt, we go for small luxuries that anyone would want, like beautiful textiles or something decorative for the coffee table.
Rip & Tan: Do you have a signature way of wrapping gifts?
Brittney Hart and Justin Capuco: We generally do, yes. We go simple with a wide black grosgrain ribbon, no double knotting! Easy to remove and can be used to tie up your hair as you open gifts.

Rip & Tan: Any staple traditions you’re looking forward to?
Brittney Hart and Justin Capuco: We both love the holiday season and honestly just enjoy taking time off with family, checking out a bit, and appreciating that rare window of rest. A round or two of Pictionary—the box stained in splashes of wine—will likely be played.
Rip & Tan: How does your home reflect the holiday season?
Brittney Hart and Justin Capuco: We have young kids, so the home is a celebration during the holidays. We celebrate Christmas and have all of the trimmings.
Rip & Tan: What’s your favorite gift you’ve received that’s become part of your home?
Brittney Hart and Justin Capuco: Justin’s grandfather made us a small wooden table years ago—he was an incredible furnituremaker. It will be in our home forever.
Brittney Hart and Justin Capuco Gift Picks
1. Puiforcat Petanque Vase—We love these in all sizes—they age beautifully and develop a soft patina over time. One is lovely, but they’re especially nice when collected and arranged in a small group.
2. Large Stamped Matches—These make lighting a candle feel more like a small ritual instead of an afterthought. The box itself becomes part of the tablescape—something we intentionally leave out and on view.
3. Hudson Throw—The texture and copper tone of this blanket are so comforting. It’s the kind of effortless detail that can really pull a space together.
4. Gohar Mother of Pearl Salad Spoons—Anytime something shiny catches the light on a table, you have my attention. These are the perfect combination of decorative and practical.
5. Cashmere Sock—These are an easy yes. It’s not the kind of thing you buy for yourself, so it makes for the perfect gift.

6. Suede Passport Holder—We travel all the time, and having a designated, tactile place for a passport makes the whole process feel less crazed.
7. Louise Roe Metal Tray—The architectural shape of this tray feels like a not-too-distant cousin of something Josef Hoffman might have designed back in the day. It looks just as good empty as it does filled with fruit or keys by the door.
8. Classic Vessel—A simple, well-proportioned vase is one of those things that makes everything feel more considered. This one is just as beautiful empty on a table as it is holding a few stems.
9. Vintage Cartier Lighters—We’re always drawn to vintage, and these have a nice weight in the hand. Andy Warhol famously lit his cigarettes with one of these.
10. Vintage Picture Frames—Vintage frames bring a bit of history and personality into a room. As a mother of twins, I especially love this Gabriella Crespi frame—it turns a family photo into a small object of art.
