Two Ways to Wear Our Best-Selling Military Jacket

This unstructured, cotton twill military jacket is one of my favorite pieces from our collection. We did it last spring in green and it was an instant best-seller. This spring we were looking to California artists and architects like Pauline and Rudolph Schindler for inspiration, so we did it in a classic navy. 

Los Angeles stylist Kate Brien and New York jewelry designer Caroline Ventura both chose to wear the jacket in our Styled By series recently and I loved seeing how they styled it to complement their respective environments and professions. Both mentioned that they appreciated the utilitarian qualities of the jacket—that is, being able to use the pockets while working—and the way it can be worn indoors or out, layered up in different ways.  

We also styled the jacket two ways in our catalog shoot at Schindler House. The more classic, slightly preppy version of the look was with a striped crewneck T-shirt and slim black jeans by The Great. For more of a bohemian spin, we did it with our ribbed mockneck knit, corduroy pants, and a wide-brim hat from Janessa Leone. The two looks had a totally different feel proving that, just as Kate and Caroline also demonstrated, a classic jacket like this is as versatile as it is functional. XXJKE
