Sally Breer’s Modern Maternity Style

Yesterday we gave you a look inside interior designer Sally Breer’s Frogtown loft. As incredible as the space is, Sally won’t be in it for much longer—she’s expecting her first baby in December and plans to move to Highland Park before the little one arrives. Sally isn’t in her third trimester yet, when getting dressed really becomes a challenge, but I loved her maternity style anyway. She told us her go-to pieces right now are easy jumpsuits and dresses, which can “go from a client meeting, to a job site, to a dinner date” with ease. “I’m not into being fussy,” she continued “but I do appreciate aesthetic, so finding pieces that feel refined but relaxed and utilitarian is always key.”

Asked if she sees any similarities between building a beautiful space and a beautiful outfit, she told us, “Yes! Start with good bones, a strong foundation, and then get weird and playful with your accessories.” For our shoot, for example, Sally layered our Italian cashmere cardigan over an easy olive jumpsuit. “The materials of these pieces feel thoughtful and refined but they’re still easy breezy,” she told us.

I love this approach to getting dressed; it’s uncomplicated but distinctive at the same time, much like Sally’s beautiful spaces. XXJKE
