Our Favorite Fall Style Essentials
September 16, 2025
While heavier knits and outerwear will become more important part of our wardrobes over next couple of months, now is the perfect time to build a strong foundation of autumn basics. Cashmere knits, a nice pair of corduroy pants, and some stylish, slightly more rugged accessories are building blocks for the ideal cold-weather wardrobe in my mind.
In terms of cashmere options, I think the two essentials are a black crewneck and a classic fisherman knit sweater. The black crewneck is a lightweight layering piece – great for when the weather really gets chilly, but for now can be worn alone as a great basic on warmer fall days. The classic fisherman knit is a soft, stylish basic you will wear all fall and winter long. Assuming you’ve already got jeans you love to wear year-round, I think a great, modern corduroy is nice to add to your wardrobe ahead of a new season as well. For fall, navy always feels sharp and refreshing coming off summer’s light, easy palette. I love our flared, cropped silhouette, which is so feminine and modern—nothing like the standard work pant you see everywhere.
Accessories can really transform an outfit, and can be worn no matter what the forecast is, so I think you can go all in on them now—especially as they tend to sell out! This fall I’m loving our studded Chelsea boot for work and social events, and Birkenstock’s shearling-lined clogs for easy, off-duty days. Janessa Leone’s wide-brim hat and Little Liffner’s croc-embossed tote are the kind of pieces that are really special and unique, and just as functional too. Plus, they’ll continue look great as you start to add heavier winter layers into the mix.
