For photographer, model, and ROWSE co-founder Nuria Val, Tarragona is more than a destination—it’s a return to simplicity. Surrounded by Tarragona’s picturesque landscape, she spent her getaway embracing slow, sun-warmed days barefoot with unfussy style and her camera in hand. For a tour of her suitcase—and her highlights of the Catalonian retreat—keep reading.
A Peek At Nuria Val's Tarragona Travels
Rip & Tan: What inspired you to choose the south of Tarragona for this trip?
Nuria Val: It’s one of my favorite places—peaceful, raw, and still beautifully untouched. The south of Tarragona feels like stepping into a slower rhythm—olive trees, rocky beaches, and that dry Mediterranean light. It’s the kind of place where I can truly switch off and reconnect with nature.
Rip & Tan: Walk us through your suitcase. What pieces felt absolutely essential to bring?
Nuria Val: I kept it simple and intentional. A black cotton dress that works from day to night, a white linen dress for warm afternoons, and a pair of white pants with my go-to classic white t-shirt—the piece I wear the most. I also packed my ROWSE essentials for skin care, my camera, and a straw hat. That was all I needed.

Rip & Tan: How did the Mediterranean setting shape what you wore?
Nuria Val: It always does—the light, the textures, the air. It calls for natural fabrics, easy silhouettes, and earthy tones. I chose clothes that moved with me and felt part of the landscape, not separate from it.
Rip & Tan: How did you spend your days in the south of Tarragona? What were your favorite moments?
Nuria Val: Slow mornings with my daughter collecting stones, midday swims on rocky beaches, and long outdoor meals under the trees. My favorite moments were the quiet ones—barefoot, sun-warmed, just being fully there.
Rip & Tan: Was there a piece you wore that made you feel entirely yourself?
Nuria Val: Yes—the white pants and t-shirt. It’s such a simple combo, but I always feel most myself in it. Uncomplicated, clean, and easy.

Rip & Tan: Any tips for staying true to your personal style while living out of a suitcase?
Nuria Val: Keep it simple. I focus on quality clothes that last—pieces that feel like me and that I can wear on repeat. When everything fits together, dressing becomes effortless. Add a few meaningful accessories, and you’re set.
Rip & Tan: Did you pick up anything special while you were there—any treasures making the trip back with you?
Nuria Val: A handmade ceramic bowl, some dried herbs from a tiny village shop, and a few smooth stones we found by the sea. Small, beautiful things that hold the memory of the trip.
