Natural Remedies: Rose

Lately, I’ve been sharing some of my favorite natural remedies, but one that is at the very top of my list, both for internal and external purposes, is rose. Here, some of its wonderful benefits, as well as my picks for the best in rose-infused products.
Face & Body
Not only does rose water have a beautiful delicate scent, it is amazing for the skin and has anti-inflammatory, anti-septic, and anti-bacterial properties. Moisturizing and refreshing, it can also enhance mood and bring about an overall sense of calm and well-being. Some favorites: my go-to Santa Maria Novella Rosewater, as well as Roberts Florentine Rosewater, Tammy Fender Bulgarian Rosewater, evanhealy Rose Petal Facial Tonic Hydrosol, and a fashion week mainstay for dewy skin, Heritage Store Rose Petals Rose Water.
Other picks that incorporate rose water and oil: editor favorite Thayer’s Rose Petal Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera, Earth Tu Face Immortelle + Rose Face Balm, which I also carry in-store, Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask , Tammy Fender Rose Geranium & Tangerine Body Lotion, Herbivore Botanicals Coco Rose Body Polish, Los Poblanos Rose Soap, and the cult classic Smith’s Rosebud Salve.
Also must-tries: the divinely scented Le Labo Rose 31 and The Laundress x Le Labo Rose 31, an eco-friendly detergent that incorporates the parfumeur’s wildly popular bouquet. And perfect for accompanying a relaxing bath after a long day: Diptyque’s Roses Candle or limited-edition Rosafolia Candle.
Food & Drink
I’ve recently shared some of the takeaways from my consult with the amazing holistic nutritionist Elissa Goodman, and her thoughts on pure, drinkable rose water and its benefits were especially of help. In addition to being a great detoxifier, it promotes a healthy digestive system, and is rich in antioxidants and essential vitamins. She suggested that I add a little rose water to my water and drinks daily (her favorite is Pure Rose Bulgarian Rosewater), but it can also be used in all sorts of foods from desserts to dressings for salad or fruit.
Some to other products to implement rose into your diet: Organic Rose Congua Loose Leaf Tea, Pressed Juicery Rose Coconut H20, a deeply hydrating and anti-inflammatory blend, Royal Rose Rose Simple Syrup and Quai Sud Epicerie de Provence Rose Syrup, perfect for your favorite craft cocktails, and Nielsen-Massey Rose Water, which is great for baking.
