Bicycles and Accessories
February 13, 2016

In my search for the perfect bikes for our family, I have come across so many great options for both kids and adults, and the most amazing accessories to go with. Here are some of my favorites:
Bicycles
I love Linus for adults and for kids – we keep several in Tahoe and they are always put to good use. In town, Tanner loves his navy blue two wheeler, and when Rip gets a bit bigger we’ll get her the red one, perfect for a little girl.Richard bought me a Pashley years ago and it is just beautiful. And for a baby seat, besides the one I brought home from Italy, this Yepp Mini is one of the best looking ones that I have seen. I found my favorite in Forte dei Marmi at the chicest bike store where you rent bikes when you come in town. I feel in love with the seat and had to bring it home in my suitcase!
For little ones learning to ride, I love this sweet wooden balance bike, and this classic wooden balance bike from Smart Gear.
Helmets
I like to set a good example for my kids and, just like them, always wear a helmet when we are riding. Nutcase makes some of our favorites, both for kids and adults.
Baskets, Pouches & Crates
For adults, I love this hand-woven ash bicycle basket, this dipped rattan basket and this one from Nantucket Wine Basket Co. Eleanor’s in NYC carries a beautiful selection of baskets and back of the bike crates, and I found this great assortment of fair trade handmade baskets from Exclusive Roots. For picnics, I love this market bag. And for keeping hydrated on a long ride, this beautiful water resistant canvas bike saddle bag.
For the little ones, Tanner is especially obsessed with the army green pouch that he has on his handlebars, and when Ripley gets hers, I like the woven basket for kids.
Pumps, Locks, Mirrors etc.
To keep in the garage, I love this Lezyne drive floor pump – it’s chic and practical, and we use ours all the time.
When it comes to locks, I can’t get enough of this chic natural rope lock from Dalman Supply Co. but also really like this Palmy U-Lock from Linus and this brass padlock from Canoe.
And for beautiful, functional add-ons, I love this Japanese brass bicycle bell from Kaufmann Mercantile, this bicycle mirror with reflector from Eleanor’s, and these leather bicycle grips and leather bicycle saddle, both from Brooks.
