Great grilling is only made better by the best sauces and rubs. Here are some of my sweet, smoky, and spicy favorites:

Chicago’s Lillie’s Q Restaurant has been a critically-acclaimed BBQ staple since its opening in 2010, and its sauces and rubs have earned the same distinction. Some great sauces to try: their Carolina, a zesty blend of Western Carolina tomato and vinegar, Ivory, a Cajun-spiced sauce that can even double as a sauce for coleslaw, Smoky, and Hot Smoky flavors. And for rubs: the Carolina Dirt Rub, a sugar-based barbecue rub, and the Q Rub, an all-purpose salt-based rub with a dash of black pepper and garlic.

Other great flavor enhancers: this Set of Craft Beer BBQ Sauces from Williams-Sonoma, Cochant Volant Sonoma Barbecue Sauce, a great all-purpose accompaniment, Flavo{u}r 21 Yellow Groaster, a sauce with green cardamom and Chai tea, perfect for grilling, roasting, and pan-frying, and this set of four barbecue sauces from Dean & Deluca.
