The Art of Gift Wrapping

Jenni’s rules for wrapping gifts for the holidays rest on one core philosophy: simplicity. Between her friends and family, there are plenty of gifts to get wrapped and ready for the season, so she aims for a uniform approach that feels entirely special and elevated. As her base, Jenni relies on craft paper—you can buy it in bulk on Amazon and use it for seasons to come.

To add some color and seasonality, she uses ribbons of different varieties: frayed linen, jute, chiffon, or silk—there are no rules when it comes to adding a flair of festive to each gift. She’ll mix different widths and let the bows feel effortless and easy to ensure each gift is unique. For the final touch, Jenni suggests mixing in a piece of greenery as a topper to make it feel more natural.

Elevating Your Décor

It wouldn’t be the holiday gathering without some festive greenery, plus a thoughtful craft for your guests to take home and relish. For this celebration, we asked the team at Moon Canyon to help us curate a tabletop and craft that felt as special as the season.

Using vintage wooden bowls sourced from Olive Ateliers, we dressed the table with bundles of greenery, focusing on various branches and bits of eucalyptus, lavender, juniper, and sage. For the holiday swag, which Jenni usually places above her door or above the cabinets in the kitchen, we used the same greenery bundles and used some of the leftover ribbon from the gifts to tie it all together.

Last, but certainly not least, is the DIY parting gift. Hosting for the holidays is all about minding the details, which is why Jenni is always keen on giving her guests something they can take home with them. Since the holidays are seemingly non-stop, a touch of self-care always does the trick, and these bath salts from Moon Canyon are the perfect addition.
