Introducing Pair of Thieves Cotton Cashmere Socks

November 7, 2016

This time of year, I love adding cozy textures to my home and my wardrobe. Whether it’s a handmade throw or beautiful cardigan, these special items add a feeling of warmth and a sense of luxury to everyday life. That’s why I’m excited to introduce our latest collaboration; ultra-soft cotton cashmere socks by Los Angeles brand Pair of Thieves.

They’re styled here by Jessica Alba; my talented friend and the wife of Pair of Thieves co-founder Cash Warren. Cash and I have known each other since we were young and when he started his company with Alan Stuart and David Ehrenberg in 2014, I knew it would resonate with people. You can’t help but smile when you see their designs (especially the father and kid sets!), and the socks are really well made on top of that.

Pair of Thieves just launched their first women’s styles this season, and they were kind enough to make these two pairs exclusively for us. The classic crew-length socks come in neutral motifs that go with everything you own—they’re great under leather boots, or just worn while spending time at home with friends and family. To learn a little bit more about the brand and our collaboration, read our interview with Cash, and shop Jessica’s look below! XXJKE

Rip & Tan: How is Pair of Thieves different than the other sock brands out there?

Cash Warren: We’ve managed to differentiate ourselves from other sock brands for a number of reasons. Most brands in the basics category are pigeon holed into being either a leisure or active brand but at Pair of Thieves we pride ourselves on developing products that are appropriate for any occasion. We call it Sneaky Performance.  All of our products have performance attributes but we hide all of that technical crap behind rad designs. We’ve also found success in a category outside of socks, and underwear is now our best-selling product.

Rip & Tan: How has the business grown since you launched in 2014? What accomplishments are you most proud of?

CW: Despite only being a few years old, we’ve been successful in both high end boutiques and mass retailers like Target.  We can’t think of many brands who started in mass that have been able to go up market.

Rip & Tan: When did you introduce women’s socks? Why limited edition cashmere?

CW: For the last four years our wives have been stealing all of our socks so we knew it was time to develop a collection just for them.  Cashmere just felt like a great place to start; who doesn’t want to be cozy during the holidays?! Our limited edition cashmere collection is available at Jenni Kayne and on our website, and will be in stores by Spring of 2017.

Rip & Tan: Any tips on laundering cashmere socks?

CW: Air dry!

Rip & Tan: Tell us about the pairs made exclusively for Jenni Kayne! How do you think they speak to the brand?

CW: I grew up with Jenni and just love her aesthetic.  She has impeccable taste so we just tried to design prints that were up to her standards. I hope we came close.

Rip & Tan: Any other big projects, launches, or expansion of the women’s line on the horizon?

CW: Expect a lot of newness from Pair of Thieves in 2017; new products, new silhouettes, new fabrics and new designs. I don’t want to bore everyone with all the details so let’s just say we’ll continue to push the boundaries and we’ll continue to make basics anything but basic!
