In Uniform is back, and this time—in the series in which we ask the well-dressed women we admire for a deep dive into their outfitting ethos—we’re talking to photographer, content creator, and expert in all things casual and refined, Fanny Amanda Nilsson. In Uniform: Fanny Amanda’s Take on Swedish It-Girl Style

Rip & Tan: In as many words as you’d like, how would you define your personal style?

Fanny Amanda Nilsson: Relaxed, feminine, kind of classic romantic with a neutral color palette.

Rip & Tan: What pieces make up your everyday uniform?

Fanny Amanda Nilsson: Denim or a pair of relaxed long pants. With something neutral on my upper body. Also a long loose dress, and I am ready for the day. I also love to add a pair of odd shoes and jewelry.

Rip & Tan: Are there any specific tenets of Swedish style that influence the way you get dressed?

Fanny Amanda Nilsson: I guess the neutral, classic way. Falling for the different seasons we have here in Sweden. My style changes with the season and every year I come back to my favorite pieces in my wardrobe and style them with some new items.

Rip & Tan: As a photographer, what is it about someone’s style that you might find intriguing enough to want to capture on film?

Fanny Amanda Nilsson: A little odd is always interesting in a photo. Something that looks like a masterpiece is always aesthetically pleasing. Or, I love when the style looks so comfy you can almost feel it through the photograph.

Rip & Tan: As part of the swimwear brand Seaquelle, what is it about summer in particular that you love to style?

Fanny Amanda Nilsson: Summer is making style so easy for us. Your mood is lighter and your skin is a little sunkissed and your hair is a naturally beachy mess. It really is a feeling of a lighter head and a brighter atmosphere. With that combination, the simplest look can look and feel fresh.

Rip & Tan: Can you tell us what’s inside your perfect seaside capsule wardrobe?

Fanny Amanda Nilsson: A knitted oversized cardigan, a bikini, a maxi dress, a white crisp shirt, a pair of black sandals, shades, a cap, and a big bag that can hold everything.

Rip & Tan: On those days you wake up and don’t know what to wear, what outfit can you always rely on?

Fanny Amanda Nilsson: A black look from head to toe. And good, fresh nails.

Rip & Tan: What are a few of your favorite ways to elevate a simple look?

Fanny Amanda Nilsson: A pair of cool shoes, sunglasses, nails, and jewels.
