Ease into Spring with Lightweight Knits in Neutral Tones

My collection and personal wardrobe are built around inviting neutral colors, which makes transitioning from one season to the next a lot easier. That said, adjustments always need to be made, particularly when it comes to fabrics! Knitwear is a great example of this. A cozy, heavy wool sweater that’s just right during the holiday season is not necessarily what you want to be wearing on a cool spring night. As a result, I always design lighter weight knits for my spring collections using fine cashmeres and cottons and stitches that encourage breathability. These effortless knits hang off the body in a delicate, easy way and look great with blue jeans or over spring dresses on cooler days. In the summer, you can wear them over a swimsuit or with shorts for a beach bonfire or BBQ with friends.

This spring we have three new knitwear styles that I’m really excited about. One is a slightly heavier, collegiate-inspired knit that’s like that sweater you’re always looking for (and never quite find) in vintage stores. It has a retro ribbed texture and striping around the collar that is boyish and cool. And then, for something more feminine, we did a boatneck sweater in the same warm wheat color. It’s made from Italian cashmere and has a contrasting stitch along the yoke, which makes it feel almost like a beautiful antique blouse. 

Bridging the gap between these masculine and feminine knits is a boxy thermal Fisherman sweater we did in grey and black cashmere this season. This style is just one of those sweaters that looks great with anything and feels wonderful too. I can’t wait to wear it on a low-key night out with friends along with my favorite jeans and our ankle-strap heels—leaving the jacket at home. That’s always the best feeling! XXJKE
