Abigail Brown and Tamar Mogendorff
February 11, 2016

Abigail Brown and Tamar Mogendorff are two of my favorite kid’s décor designers. They both create by hand the most precious and special pieces which truly make a kid’s room. While their aesthetics are very similar, both women have unique signatures which set their pieces apart. Although their work is quite expensive, to me it’s art and worth the investment.
Abigail Brown
I was first introduced to Abigail’s work when I saw the most beautiful flamingo in my friend Ambre’s daughter’s playroom- I totally freaked out and wanted to sell her pieces in my store immediately.
Inspired by her seamstress grandmother, Abigail Brown works with new and vintage fabrics and patterns to give life to the little creatures that she imagines and designs. Hand sewn by Abigail herself in her London studio, her pieces are all unique treasures and her attention to detail is insane. My favorites are her little White Bird, Peacock and her Flamingo. They are all gorgeous!
Tamar Mogendorff
When I was pregnant with Tanner, I discovered Tamar’s work at a Yoya in NYC. I hung her stork mobile above Tan’s crib and it’s now above Ripley’s. After that, I was hooked. Like Abigail’s work, I carry Tamara’s in the store.
Tamar’s artistic instincts were encouraged and nurtured by her creative family. She took the advice of her grandmother to pursue her artistic dreams and moved from Israel to New York to start her collection. Her work is so beautiful and, like Abigail’s, everything is handmade with amazing detail. Tamar uses thousand of fabrics and threads to create her one-of-a-kind creatures in her Brooklyn workshop. My favorites are her Swans, Stork, Deer, Bird Houses and Birdcages. XXJKE
