What to Buy for Yourself on Black Friday
November 22, 2016

While holiday parties and family dinners call for something special you might not wear all the time, holiday off-duty style is all about those great icons you love to reach for over and over again. But just because those items are everyday basics doesn’t mean they can’t be thoughtfully designed and executed with beautiful fabrics in their own right. Humble pieces that have aged and broken-in over the years—like classic blue jeans, Italian leather boots, and super-soft knits–have a charm all their own.
To that end, I wanted to share a few pieces that I think comprise the ideal fall wardrobe. All are classic and timeless at first glance, and truly special and unique when you look closer. In addition to buying for others, I hope you are able to treat yourself to something new this season!

Cashmere Fisherman Tunic Sweater—This season we gave the traditional ivory fisherman sweater an elegant, urbane spin rendering it in navy Italian cashmere and elongating the body to a flattering tunic length. Worn with jeans or even a silk maxi skirt, it’s everything you want to put on in fall.
Cashmere Jersey Striped Crewneck—Not all striped shirts were created equal! This one is rendered in super-soft, ultra-thin cashmere jersey and cut slim and straight with elongated sleeves for easy layering. As a staple you’ll love slipping it on season after season, we think it’s worth the investment.
Jenni Kayne x Crescent Down Works Vest—We collaborated with this heritage Seattle company to create the perfect down vest. It’s cut in a boxy, cropped silhouette and made with Japanese cotton that’s soft and subtle. Wear it over a long-sleeve tee or cashmere sweater for a cozy look.
The Great Nerd Jean—Denim is a go-to in winter but that doesn’t have to mean it has to be boring. This mid-rise jean is both modern and totally classic. We love the vintage-inspired medium blue wash and the way the cropped, slightly flared hem highlights a great pair of ankle boots or mules.
Saddle Leather Chelsea Boots—Thanks to its streamlined appearance, these iconic boots look equally great with denim or dresses and skirts. Ours are crafted from Italian nappa leather in a rich saddle color and feature elastic inserts and leather tabs so you can pull them on and go.
Janessa Leone Ava Wool Hat—Both as a vehicle for warmth and a way to add a sense of sophistication to your winter wardrobe, a wide-brim hat is a cold-weather must-have. Instead of traditional black or brown, try this off-white style by Los Angeles designer Janessa Leone for something unexpected.
