A New Book for Healthier Cocktail Recipes
December 29, 2016

If you drink, this is the time of year when you’re probably doing a little more of it than usual. Moderation is still key, but I also try to be mindful of the ingredients used in drinks too. Just as with food, nourishing, whole ingredients make a difference in how good or bad you feel when all is said and done. To that end, I’m excited about Ariane Resnick’s new book, “The Thinking Girl’s Guide to Drinking”. Ariane is a nutritionist and chef with a focus on organic, whole foods and, with some help from mixologist Brittini Rae, she put together 100 healthful cocktail recipes for the tome. Instead of sodas and sugary juices the recipes include things like Kombucha, fresh ginger, coconut cream, and green juice.
For a taste of what’s inside, here’s Ariane’s recipe for a healthier take on the Bloody Mary (or, in this case, a Bloody Maria). Made with carrot juice instead of tomato juice and a more beneficial blend of spices, this cocktail would be great served at a New Year’s Day brunch or whenever you’re craving a vegetable-juice drink. Enjoy! XXJKE
