Terracotta Scents

You’ve probably picked up by now that I love surrounding myself with beautiful scents. Two of my favorite things around my house are my L’Artisan Amber Balls and my Santa Maria Novella pomegranates, which are both made out of terra cotta.

L’ Artisan Amber Balls

When Richard and I were first dating, one of the first gifts he gave me was an Amber Ball. I was instantly hooked and it became my go-to gift. Years later, I picked them up for my store and love having them. L’Artisan Amber Balls are hand-carved and no two are alike. In the middle of each Amber Ball is a solid version of the warm, golden amber scent. Intense and exotic, the scent is carried by currents of air and magnified by heat in the room. I have them all over my house – from bathrooms to our living room, they make every space smell amazing and last years.

Santa Maria Novella Pomegranate

As you know by now, I love Santa Maria Novella’s products and one of my favorites is their terra cotta pomegranate. Each pomegranate is hand made out of terra cotta, formed and then put into the kiln and fired halfway. Next, they are immersed in a vat of pomegranate oil essence for one week then fired the rest of the way, sealing the fragrance inside – which is why they smell so amazing. I keep them in my bathroom and closet and love the way they smell. The only catch is they can hurt the surface they are placed on, so I always put a small tray or plate underneath them. XXJKE
