Site of the Day: Edible Gardens Market

From helping me plant my vegetable and herb gardens, to creating a tepee made of beans and peas, Lauri Kranz of Edible Gardens LA has, over the years, become a great friend and amazing resource for all of my edible garden needs. So when she asked me to be a part of the garden-driven line of goods that she recently launched with Eve Gerber and Sheryl Sokoloff, I was thrilled.

Born of collaborations with creative clients and friends, the Edible Gardens Market’s initial offering includes such items as a hand thrown ceramic herb pot from Victoria Morris, a Japanese Denim Apron from JOE’S Jeans, a hand-woven garden hat from Kimberly Muller + Tula, and a cotton garden tarp designed by yours truly.

In addition to the launch of her online market, Lauri is also debuting another collaboration that is far too amazing not to mention. Edible Gardens LA is partnering with KCRW’s Anne Litt – who shares Lauri’s passion for both gardening and music – for an upcoming series called ‘There is Music in the Garden’. The events will take place in both public and private gardens around Los Angeles, and feature garden playlists curated by Anne that will then be available online via Spotify.

The partnership is one designed to celebrate the artistic endeavors of both music and gardens, and to especially highlight the beauty and importance of growing one’s own food. I’m so taken by the idea of this inspired pairing – did I mention that a solar powered turntable is in the works?

Needless to say, between this and all of Lauri’s upcoming product collaborations, I look forward to seeing what the garden yields over the weeks and months to come. XXJKE
