Seasonal Staples: Jenni's Summer Picnic Essentials

When shooting our new Summer 2016 catalogue in Ojai, I was especially excited to dedicate an afternoon to having a beautiful picnic with Ripley. To me, picnics are one of life’s simple pleasures. They can be enjoyed in a big group of friends or family, with a romantic partner, with your kids or even solo. Practically speaking, they are wonderfully easy to put together, but I have found over time that there are a few key items that make a picnic truly next-level. 

When Ripley and I reached our shady bit of green grass, we laid out my favorite soft striped blankets by Swans Island. We also brought along large Indian Pink Pillows to make lounging even more comfortable. When eating outdoors on the ground, I always find it’s best to stick to simple foods that are easily shared. For our outing, Ripley and I packed fresh, local strawberries and bread, along with an array of cheeses. My best serving tip is to bring along cutting boards, such as the refined maple boards by Edward Wohl. An easy straw hat for sun-protection is another essential I wouldn’t dream of picnicking without. I hope this shopping guide inspires an idyllic afternoon of your own! XXJKE
