How Jenni's Making Mother's Day Special This Year
April 25, 2024
When it comes to women who have given us everything, a standard gift simply won’t do. So we went to Jenni for an inspired guide to making the day memorable, special, and completely mom-worthy. From the the pieces she’s gifting to the way she loves to celebrate, she’s sharing all the tips for a Mother’s Day weekend that’s unlike the rest.

How Jenni's Making Mother's Day Special This Year
Rip & Tan: How would you define your typical gifting ethos?
Jenni Kayne: No matter the holiday, I love gifts that are thoughtful and, above all, timeless. I want the person I’m giving it to to be able to treasure it for as long as possible, if not the rest of their lives.
Rip & Tan: What are some unexpected ways we can treat the mothers and mother figures in our lives?
Jenni Kayne: I think handmade gifts go a long way. For my mom, I love curating a basket or box full of the essentials for a relaxing at-home spa day—Oak Essentials is always a hit—then I’ll add a Jenni Kayne robe and a candle, maybe even some homemade bath salts Ripley and I have made.
Rip & Tan: As a mother yourself, what’s a gift you’d love to receive this year?
Jenni Kayne: I’ll never say no to a spa day, but a family brunch at home is all I could ever want or need.

Rip & Tan: Any tips for taking a gift above and beyond?
Jenni Kayne: Never underestimate the impact of personalization. These days, there are so many different ways to customize a gift. Something as simple as adding embroidery to linens or tea towels can make something fairly ordinary so incredibly special.
Rip & Tan: When in doubt, what’s one gift any mother would love?
Jenni Kayne: Cashmere, of course. Especially in the form of a sweater she can wear all year long—and easily style for the rest of her life.
Rip & Tan: What does Mother’s Day mean to you? How will you celebrate this year?
Jenni Kayne: Simply put, it’s a day filled with love for your mom, your children if you have them, and your friends who are moms or mother figures. It’s a time to slow down and show gratitude, no matter how simple, for the women in your life who have often spent a good portion of their lives putting others first.
