Built for Forever: Introducing Jenni Kayne Furniture

August 1, 2018

After a long day, there’s nothing like coming back home. There’s the place you always put your keys, your well-worn couch, your nightstand with that stack of books you’ve been meaning to read…every object plays its part in the story of you. We want to be a part of that story. Our first-ever furniture collection is inspired by the pieces you love and live with, pieces made with integrity and quality that are built to last forever.

Much like our philosophy when it comes to an edited wardrobe, we believe good furniture is trendless and timeless. We design everything with a foundational element of function, because we believe that an object is only as beautiful as its use. Consider one of our favorite aesthetic philosophies: the uniform. Dressing in a consistent style that’s authentic to who you are isn’t as much about the clothes as it is about expressing yourself in a way you know to be true. That’s why we built our furniture with traditional woodworking techniques from a sturdy white oak wood with a neutral grain that can fit in any interior. Accents of natural cotton rope, woven by hand, ground these architectural pieces into the natural world.

With inspiration drawing on mid-century, Scandinavian, and Danish design influences, these pieces are sophisticated and simple, with clean lines and enduring strength. Jenni Kayne Furniture debuts with a small run of pieces built with beautiful craftsmanship for multifunctional use. These pieces are designed to subtly complement existing décor, layer with your favorite textiles, or stand alone as a subtle but striking accent to any room of the house.

The Oak Day Bench and Oak Rope Chair are beautiful pieces to layer blankets and pillows in the bedroom or to accent an entryway. The unique characteristics of white oak are warm and grounding, with natural knots and a smooth, sanded surface, while the addition of taut white rope results in objects that are as familiar as they are newly refreshing. Each piece is practical, multifunctional, and designed with attention to proportion and dimension. Case in point: the Side Table, and Entry Table, in their simple, elemental design, let the objects they hold become the focal point of the room.

By eschewing anything excess or purely ornamental, the result is a distillation of an object in its purest form. We believe that we become the objects we live with. When pieces are made with integrity and quality, the places we inhabit become more thoughtful and considered, bringing a little more balance and beauty into the everyday.
