Two Timeless Takes on Plaid, Styled by Ally Walsh

The yarn dyed plaid flannel tops in our fall collection are among my favorite pieces. I love the traditional, rustic feel of the red and navy motif, and the effortless, relaxed fits. They’re the perfect way to add a little bit of pattern to your wardrobe while still keeping things classic. I thought Santa Monica-based model and coffee maker, Ally Walsh, would be the perfect person to style these pieces. She’s all-American and classic but a little bit bohemian too.

Ally styled both plaid tops with dark-color bottoms and tan-color flats but the effect of the two looks is quite different. The banded shell, which she styled with our corduroy cropped flare pants and mule slides, is a little more polished and dressed up, while the placket back boyfriend shirt, which she wore with The Great’s frayed Nerd jeans and Birkenstock’s shearling-lined clogs, is cozier and more casual.

“I’d wear these outfits on a date or to the farmer’s market”, Ally told us, “which, for me, could be the same thing!” So while the two outfits have distinct personalities, they both feel “effortless, simple, and casual,” as Ally put it. “I think you could wear them in any situation,” she added. I couldn’t agree more. XXJKE
