Restaurant of the Day: Kitchen Mouse Cafe

February 16, 2016

Three plates of food, including tacos and salad-topped dishes, surround a green mug of black coffee with a white flower arrangement at the center, all set on a wooden table with cookies visible in the corner.

As I shared this week, Kitchen Mouse owner Erica Daking’s vegan, gluten-free food has been a favorite for some time. Serving up inspired dishes every bit as flavorful as their non-vegan counterparts, it’s no surprise that her once-small catering business has evolved into much more. Opened in Highland Park in 2014, the charming and cozy Kitchen Mouse Cafe serves breakfast and lunch, and has become a destination for plant-based, farmer’s market fare. On the menu and on my list to try: an Avocado TLT (tempeh, of course) and the Oat, Buckwheat & Corn Pancakes with Vermont maple syrup, berries and coconut. XXJKE
