Product Guide: Face
February 11, 2016
Building on my recent hair care post, I want to continue filling in my Rip+Tan beauty suggestions with my favorite face products.
Since I found out I was pregnant with Tanner, I’ve tried to limit the number of chemicals I put in and on my body. I’m increasingly aware of how important it is to know what we are putting on our bodies – that being said, I’m not perfect, but I really to make a conscience effort to use organic, paraben-free, natural products whenever possible. I have great skin but it takes a lot of maintenance and care and I’m definitely prone to break outs. Using super clean natural products that are effective is definitely doable, but I struggle sometimes to balance health and vanity. After years of trial and error, here are my go-to face products and favorite brands.
Terri Lawton
Throughout her career in the beauty industry, Terri Lawton has always held the vision that because mind, body and spirit are so deeply connected, a much more holistic and natural approach to skincare is needed to produce the most positive and long-lasting results. Over the past 25 years, Terri has honed her training and beauty treatment techniques to include Energy Meridian, Cranial Sacral and Hands-On Work combined with the least invasive, yet most effective use of anti-aging technology. Using her vast skill set, Terri offers facials that relax, restore, cleanse and beautify the skin.
In addition to making great product recommendations – which I mention below – Terri has also developed her own line of products and they are amazing. I swear by her Stem Crème as my daily moisturizer and her Ultra Rich Stem Eye Cream for everyday. Her products aren’t available online but its easy to call or email and order them.
Cosmedix
Cosmedix is my favorite brand for most face products. Terri Lawton turned me on to them years ago. Their mission is to create a healthy complexion without irritation. It’s a plant-based, earth-friendly line, free of artificial colors and preservatives and their formulations boast the highest concentrations of active ingredients currently available, which is what makes them so effective.
I wash my face with their Purity or Benefit cleansers every day. I also love Clarity which I put on after my toner and before my moisturizer. If my skin is dry or broken out I swear by Rescue , which is an amazing mask/balm. Terri mixes it with blemish balm at the end of my facial and it leaves my skin glowing. For masks, I use Pure Enzymes and Clear weekly.
Kiehl’s
Kiehl’s is one of my weaknesses. I love their products even though they have parabens and other chemicals in them. My favorite is their Sodium PCA Oil Free Moisturizer which I have been using off and on since high school. When I need a little extra coverage I love their Ultra Facial Tinted Moisturizer . Even though there are things about Kiehl’s that I wish were otherwise, it’s a constant and reliable product line that I will probably always use.
Skin Ceuticals
As I mentioned in my Summer Post , I use Skin Ceuticals 50+ everyday on my face and love it. I also recently discovered they make a tinted version. I love how lightweight they are and how high of an SPF they are. They make tons of other great products as well.
