Gift List: What Mimi Nguyen's Eyeing For Valentine's Day

Rip & Tan: How would you describe your approach to Valentine’s Day gifting?

Mimi Nguyen: I tend to lean towards practical gifts when it comes to gifting. I believe in making sure that whatever I give is not just thoughtful but also useful. Hope whoever I’m gifting appreciates the practical touch!

Rip & Tan: Physical object, experience, or otherwise—what’s something you’re most excited to share with loved ones this year?

Mimi Nguyen: This year, I’m just excited to be back in New York. We left for 5 months and now that we’re back, we appreciate the city so much more, my husband and I are really taking the time to soak it all in. It’s also been really nice to reunite with my siblings and friends who live here.

Rip & Tan: What does your ideal Valentine’s Day look like?

Mimi Nguyen: I like keeping it casual and cozy. February is usually cold in New York, so likely I’ll be staying in with my husband and dog. We’ll order our favorite meals + dessert (of course!), and enjoy a movie (preferably Mamma Mia Here We Go Again). Sometimes, it’s the simple moments that make the day special!

Rip & Tan: What’s the most memorable gift you’ve received?

Mimi Nguyen: The most memorable gift I’ve received has to be a piece of art. My husband noticed it on my Pinterest, and to my surprise, he went the extra mile to source it all the way from France. It was such a thoughtful gesture that made the gift even more special!

Rip & Tan: Any tips for making Valentine’s Day feel authentically sweet and meaningful?

Mimi Nguyen: Approach it with no expectations. Instead of focusing on grand gestures, take the time to ensure your loved ones feel genuinely special. Simple acts of kindness, thoughtful words, and spending quality time together can create a more authentic day together.

From the Jenni Kayne Collection

The 512 Tray—I have a couple of pieces from Anastasio Home and love the texture they add to a room. I think everyone needs a beautiful catchall in their home to organize miscellaneous items!

Mojave Jute Rug—Rugs complete a room, so I’d gift this to myself because I’m currently on the hunt for a bedroom rug.

Marina Sweatpant—I have these and love that they can be worn out and/or at home. So cozy and chic! Great for anyone who likes to look great but still be comfortable while traveling or lounging at home.

Men’s Cotton Fisherman—You can’t go wrong with a chunky sweater for the winter season, especially an insanely soft Jenni Kayne sweater (IYKYK). I love the navy because it’s easy to style and will be a classic closet staple that will last a long time.

Double Sheepskin—My dog Arthur loves napping on fuzzy blankets and rugs, so this wouldn’t only be a decor piece, but it could be a very chic and comfortable area for him to sleep on.

Other Curated Favorites

Aita Tall Handblown Glass Set—Beautifully designed cups make drinking water a lot more fun. They have a design studio/cafe in DUMBO that I love stopping by for a cup of tea or drip coffee!

The Hand Care Duo by Sidia—People often forget to take care of their hands. This set is a nice reminder to gently exfoliate and moisturize your hands. Both smell incredible and pair perfectly together. I always have the hand serum in my purse!

Hollywood Candle—This candle was gifted to me by a very dear friend. The smell brings me so much joy, so I would hope that whoever I gift it to would feel the same when they light the candle!

Loop Ring no.2 Silver—I love all of their pieces, the shapes are so unique and they’re high quality. A statement piece can change your entire look. I urge everyone to try a new piece of jewelry when they get bored of their closet!

The Jolie Filtered Showerhead—Who wants to shower with dirty water?! I noticed a huge difference in my skin and hair while using it. I’d love someone else to experience it!
