We’re back again with In Uniform—the series in which the style-minded women we admire give us an inside look at their wardrobe musts—and this time, we’re spending a decidedly refined day with Montreal style icon Andrea Ricci. From the heels she wears with everything to her take on timelessness, it’s a must-read for anyone inclined toward truly elevated outfitting.

In Uniform: Andrea Ricci's Refined Montreal Style
Rip & Tan: How would you describe your signature style?
Andrea Ricci: I would describe my signature style as timeless with a touch of modernity.
Rip & Tan: What’s your approach to sourcing new wardrobe pieces?
Andrea Ricci: I always ensure the item can align with the rest of my wardrobe. I rarely invest in trends, it has to stand the test of time and grow with me.
Rip & Tan: Imagine your ideal Montreal day—what are you styling? Where are you wearing it?
Andrea Ricci: I’m wearing a classic long-sleeved sweater with a cardigan on my shoulders, capris, vintage manolos with a clutch to Leméac, the chicest French restaurant. And of course, we’ll end up at Henrietta for late-night cocktails.

Rip & Tan: When you’re putting a look together, what’s your typical order of operations?
Andrea Ricci: I start with the shoe. Will I be walking a lot? Will I be sitting down most of the time? This completely directs the rest of my outfit. I love contrast, and if I have the luxury of going somewhere where there isn’t much walking involved I’ll wear the highest heel possible but pair it with something super casual to balance it off. My clothing is always simple and understated, I use accessories to make it timely.
Rip & Tan: On those days when you don’t know what to wear, what’s one look you can always rely on?
Andrea Ricci: I can always rely on an oversized knit sweater, low-rise dress pants, very pointy kitten heels and large black sunglasses.
Rip & Tan: Where do you look for fresh style inspo?
Andrea Ricci: I love old movies but I also use Pinterest and social media. I love to collect images!

Rip & Tan: What are some pieces you’re most excited to wear this spring?
Andrea Ricci: I can’t wait to wear capris with a strappy kitten heel! I purchased two pairs of the Acne kitten heels and if I could buy a third pair, I would. They are so simple yet always make the most simple outfit seem put together.
Rip & Tan: Staples, accessories, or otherwise—what’s in your desert island capsule?
Andrea Ricci: White shirt, men-inspired fit trousers, black sunglasses, a kitten heel, my silver bangle and a big bag.
Rip & Tan: What makes something a classic in your eyes?
Andrea Ricci: When the outfit isn’t shocking but still intriguing.
