In Uniform: How Fanny Amanda is Styling the Season

December 11, 2023

The halls are decked, there’s a chill in the air—and as such, we’re back with a special holiday edition of In Uniform—the series in which we ask the stylish women we admire to break down the makings of their go-to looks. To kick things off, photographer, content creator, and Swedish it-girl Fanny Amanda Nilsson is giving us three seasonal outfit formulas that never fail. From cozy days in to best-dressed days out, her approach is effortless and entirely worth emulating.

In Uniform: How Fanny Amanda is Styling the Season

Rip & Tan: In a general sense, how would you describe your ideal holiday season aesthetic?

Fanny Amanda Nilsson: I use candles and cozy lights to brighten up the dark months and love the smell of warm aromas emanating from candles and food. My textiles and clothing tend to be extra soft and dark this time of year.

Rip & Tan: More specifically, what’s your usual approach to holiday style?

Fanny Amanda Nilsson: I prefer to wear darker clothes and add small accessories such as jewelry, a belt or a clutch to add a little extra.

Rip & Tan: What are you wearing when you want to feel cozy and comfortable but put-together at home?

Fanny Amanda Nilsson: When I am lounging around the house, I gravitate towards quality pieces that are soft like the Relaxed Trousers and the Everyday Sweater.

Rip & Tan: When the occasion calls for something a little more festive and luxe, what outfit are you reaching for?

Fanny Amanda Nilsson: Something simple yet luxurious is key for me during the holiday party season. The Margot Dress in black is the perfect choice to elevate any occasion because you can dress it up or down.

Rip & Tan: Let’s say you have a day off to be out and about, simply taking in the sights of the season. What are you wearing?

Fanny Amanda Nilsson: Warm clothes with layers on layers. I’m a person who’s always more hot than cold. A cozy sweater will always be one of the layers during these colder months.

Rip & Tan: When a holiday look is missing something and you can’t quite put your finger on it, what’s your first move?

Fanny Amanda Nilsson: My first move is to undress and change the look completely or to open my phone and go to my favorite style icons to find inspiration.

Rip & Tan: What’s the secret to a festive outfit that still feels timeless?

Fanny Amanda Nilsson: A little black dress with black thin stockings is always a good choice. It is simple to throw together in a pinch and always chic.

Rip & Tan: Style aside, what are you most looking forward to this holiday season?

Fanny Amanda Nilsson: Every year I look forward to decorating a little extra at home and doing all the cozy things together with my family during my son’s first holiday season. I can’t wait to share our holiday traditions with him.
