Fun in the Snow

Our house is getting ready for our annual ski trip to Alta and as always, I’m obsessed with finding all the best accessories for the kids to have fun in the snow. Here are a few of my favorites this winter.

Sleds

L.L. Bean

When we were little, we had a L.L. Bean sled with a red cushion and my mother just resurrected it from storage! They also have the same sled with a buffalo plaid cushion, or if you already have the original, you can just order the buffalo cushion cover. L.L.Bean offers the same sled with a handle to push or pull, which is a great added bonus. I’m considering just ordering the handle accessory for ours so it’s easier to get the kids back up the hill after they sled down. If you have a larger family, they make a tandem sled.

Mountain Boy Sledworks

Another great option for sleds is the Mountain Boy Bambino. It’s a little more rustic looking, but super chic. You can also order a pad for it for a little added comfort. They make a Grasshopper convertible wagon to sled that looks pretty great, as well.

Toboggan

If you’re a little more adventurous or looking for a little more speed, a toboggan is a great option. L.L.Bean makes nice ones in both small and large sizes. We have a Mountain Boy Sledworks toboggan that I bought at my friend Soliel’s store, The Little Seed. We keep at the Alta Lodge so we don’t have to schlep it every year for our ski trip – it’s very fun.

Flying Saucer

For the older kids with more guts than ours, I like L.L.Bean’s red flying saucer. It’s just a little chicer than the average flying saucer!

Snow Toys

L.L.Bean makes a great snow castle and snowball maker set, or you can also buy just the snowball and bricker maker set. These guarantee hours of fun with the little ones and are on my Hanukah list for the kids this year.

Another great thing to pick up if you don’t have time to put it together yourself is a snowman kit. I like My Very Own Snowman, Décor Snowman Kit and Snowman Family Kit.
