DIY: Canned Cherries

February 16, 2016

Three glass jars filled with cherries and liquid, each tied with a red and white striped ribbon around the lid, are lined up on a wooden surface with a neutral background.

In recent years, I’ve become much more interested in the art of preserving fruits and vegetables. Not only is the process itself an enjoyable one, but the results are a gift that just keeps giving – not to mention how pretty they look displayed on a kitchen shelf. With cherry season here for such a short time, I wanted to try my hand at preserving some so that we could hold onto them for a just a bit longer. To do so, I used this recipe for canning fresh cherries, and was pleasantly surprised at how relatively easy the process was. I can’t wait to use the sweet results as a topping for greek yogurt, or in some of our favorite desserts. XXJKE
