Summer Entertaining: A Delicious Spanish Meal with Annie Campbell
Paella is inherently festive, but far from fussy. That’s what makes it the perfect basis for a summer dinner party; it’s simultaneously casual and special in a way that feels just right this time of year. My friend Annie Campbell—a chef, event designer, and frequent Rip &Tan contributor—put the dinner together for a group of our friends with the help of her lovely husband and business partner, Greg Murnion. Annie wanted the vibe to be relaxed with plenty of pretty details.
Colorful striped linens and sand-color napkins from Heather Taylor Home were the perfect choice for the Spanish meal. Annie pointed out that the company just launched a new rental service for their amazing linens, which is great if you want something really specific for a special theme like this.
Wildflower arrangements by Yasmine Mei, scattered stone fruit, and votive candles added just the right touch of summer to the tables. Yasmine chose simple glass vessels, filling them a colorful and casual array of dahlias, craspedia, scabiosa, peonies, poppy pods, safflower, gloriosa, smokebush and blackberries.
From there, it was all about keeping the rest of the table really simple and clean. White porcelain plates from Restoration Hardware, minimalist glasses from CB2’s Marta collection, and assorted hotel silver sourced by Annie from eBay, completed the place settings and left plenty of room on the table for the best part: the food.
See below for all the inspired decor elements put together by Annie, and stay tuned tomorrow for recipes and photos from the meal. XXJKE
