Our Exciting New Collab with Marysia Swim

I love decorating with soft neutrals, especially in the summer, but sometimes the occasion calls for something a bit moodier. When we were putting together a chic dinner to celebrate our collaboration with Venice swimwear label Marysia Swim, it felt like the right opportunity. The capsule collection is all black—three bottoms, three tops, and two one-pieces—so we wanted that to be reflected in the table settings and overall vibe of the event.

We started with black bistro chairs and reclaimed wood farm tables from Found Vintage Rentals. I liked the idea of mixing black with earthy tones for a softer alternative to black and white. We added black linen runners to the tables, along with tea light candles, and gorgeous bouquets from Bloom & Plume. The place settings were white ceramic plates by Heath, steel cutlery from Canvas Home, and charcoal linen napkins from Hudson Grace.

Venice favorite Gjusta put together our menu for the evening. The fare was light but dynamic in flavor. We started with two toasts: tomato confit with burrata and eggplant Caponata. For the family-style dinner we dined on local cod with white wine and herbs, grilled squash, a snap pea salad, and a mixed mushroom flatbread pizza. For drinks we served rose, white wine, and grapefruit Paloma cocktails. Our decadent dessert—a rich chocolate cake—came from Sweet Laurel Bakery.

I hope you enjoy this more rustic twist on the black and white-themed dinner. And, if you’re in the market for a new suit, be sure to check out our just-launched collaboration with Marysia on JenniKayne.com. It’s a fresh take on the iconic black suit; I think you’ll find something you love. XXJKE
