Introducing The Jenni Kayne Home Collection

Today marks the launch of my first-ever home collection and I’m so excited to share it with you. Like my clothing line, Jenni Kayne Home is minimalist, warm, and quietly luxurious. There are baby alpaca blankets and pillows, travel accessories such as slippers, pouches, and eye masks, all made with care by artisans in Peru, as well as premium candles, crafted and poured in Los Angeles. To celebrate the launch, I asked our president, Julia Wilson, and our director of product, Brooke Foley, to share a little bit about what they think makes Jenni Kayne Home special. I’ve also included a few of my own tips on styling the pieces in your space—read on below! XXJKE

On Design

Julia Wilson, President of Jenni Kayne

“Spending time with Jenni these last few years has helped me appreciate how important and fulfilling it is to take a minute to be thoughtful about the way I set up a corner in my home or the table I set dinner with friends.  It makes moments with my loved ones more special and our time together more memorable. I’m so happy that our brand will be able to share that message with our customers more holistically.

What’s so inspiring and unique about Jenni’s design sensibility is that she’s attentive to even the smallest detail. The level of care Jenni took to make each item stand on its own as a beautiful and emotional piece is incredible.

I love the color palette of the collection because it is neutral and warm – I think the lightness of the oatmeal, light grey, and ivory pieces creates such a soft and cozy environment and makes it easy to create a story in your home even if you’re new to interior design.

And the gifting items are amazing! The shearling slippers, alpaca throws and ceramic candle are such luxurious pieces that I know my friends and family will love to receive over the holidays. They’re small items but they make a big impact on a space—and even your quality of life.

On Craftsmanship

Brooke Foley, Director of Product Development and Production

“It was a labor of love choosing the artisans and manufacturers who worked on this collection.

The cooperative we worked with in Peru to make our alpaca products is owned by a mother and her daughters. Our leather goods are made in Los Angeles by a factory that is female owned and operated. Being a part of a female-owned company, it was important to know we were empowering other businesses owned by women. Our candles are hand-poured in a Los Angeles facility that employees and empowers adults living with disabilities. We wanted to be sure that the products we make are not only going to look beautiful in someone’s home, but also provide living wages for those making them.

Choosing materials that feel wonderful but will also stand the test of time was also of the utmost importance. The alpaca we sourced is sheared under strict practices to make sure the alpaca animal is never harmed. Our heavyweight linen is enzyme-washed to give it a worn-in feel right from the start. The leathers we choose are durable yet supple to ensure they will break in and develop a rich patina over time. The scents for our candles were hand-picked by Jenni to evoke different elements of her California lifestyle.”

On Styling

Jenni Kayne, Founder of Jenni Kayne

“I love that my home collection can be styled in a variety of ways, thanks to its pared down design and soft, neutral color palette. That said, here are a few styling tips and philosophies I use in my own home to create a sense of luxury, minimalism, and warmth. I hope they’re helpful to you, too!

Embrace simplicity. Limit the number of prints, patterns, and colors in a room for an elevated, timeless look. Home accents in warm, solid neutrals are inviting, and allow for endless styling opportunities as the seasons and years pass on! Bring color into a room through artwork and fresh florals or plants, instead of furnishings.

Streamline your life. Pouches look stylish and keep small objects in drawers and bags organized. In a carry-on bag use one for beauty products and one for cords and electronics. If you’re traveling with children, use them to keep small toys and snacks organized. Opening a drawer, bag, or storage space and finding that everything has a place is the sign of a truly well-designed home.

Avoid perfection. Mismatched accents make a room feel more comfortable and lived-in. Pair bold patterns and solid neutrals to avoid a matchy-matchy look. Use an odd number of pillows on a couch or bench. And incorporate a travel souvenir, vintage object, or framed photo into every room for a personal touch.

Indulge in little luxuries. Sometimes the smallest gestures make the biggest impact. Stylish slippers make getting up on cold winter mornings more inviting. A plush blanket over the arm of a chair or the back of the couch gives your living room a cozy feel. And a beautiful scented candle adds atmosphere to any room—pick scents that evoke the right mood for the space.”
