For those of us who love camping and the great outdoors but like certain amenities like bathrooms and a mattress, glamping is the perfect way to get your fix without sacrificing creature comforts. Here are a few of my favorite glamping destinations in the states – I’ve been to two of them and the rest are on my list! XXJKE

El Capitan Canyon

Wonderfully close to LA, El Capitan is located twenty miles north of Santa Barbara and situated on a seaside pocket of three hundred plus acres. Absolutely beautiful and just rustic enough – there’s even a general store and restaurant if you aren’t up for the challenge of cooking over a campfire – it’s lots of fun for the whole family. We were fortunate enough to experience it with our friends Jessica and Jed and had the best time.

Dunton Hot Springs

Too incredible to even be considered glamping, Dunton Hot Springs is a romantic old mining town located just outside of Telluride, made up of perfectly restored hand-hewn log cabins from the late 1800’s. Surrounded by incredible mountains and Aspen trees for days, it’s situated on the most incredible hot springs, and feels as if you have entered another world and time.

We stayed at Dunton last summer and were completely blown away. Truly one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, it is a destination unlike any other. Each of its gorgeous and unique cabins has been brought up to speed – even wireless internet, should you need – with every last detail paid attention to. And while it’s not true glamping, apart from Christy’s Tent, which is absolutely amazing, it is now joined by a much more rustic sister resort, Dunton River Camp, located several miles down the road.

The Ranch at Rock Creek

Nestled amid the incredible Montana landscape, the all-inclusive Ranch at Rock Creek offers western adventure paired with the height of comfort and amenities. I have heard so many great things about this resort and its activities – my sister Maggie just got back and had the time of her life. And since I have always wanted to go to Montana, this special destination is next on my list.

Paws Up

Also in Montana, Paws Up is a luxury resort situated on a 37,000 acre working cattle ranch. With countless activities and adventures available, this destination for rustic elegance also allows guests to determine their level of “roughing it”, whether it be in one of their expansive private homes or sophisticated, safari-style tents.

Fireside Resort

Situated in the heart of the Tetons, this all-season Jackson Hole resort embraces the evolution of camping, offering guests the choice of fireside cabins or glamping tents, complete with king size bed, luxury linens, and concierge service. Just as enticing: its proximity to several world-class skiing destinations.

Shelter Co.

And lastly, for the ultimate camping experience (and on my list to try): Shelter Co., a pop up lodging service that provides a luxury experience at the destination of your choice. Basically, they set up the most gorgeous campsite imaginable for you, with all packages fully customized with as little or as much as you like. Whether it be bathrooms, showers, or a chef, you name it and they’ll make it happen.
