Brunch with True Botanicals at Venice Beach’s Chez Tex

To celebrate our partnership with True Botanicals, we gathered at one of our favorite beachside spots for a wholesome brunch. Venice Beach is home to Chez Tex, the casual neighborhood spot that marries the warmth and style of a Parisian bistro with the casual comfort of California-style cuisine. Located in a former gallery space on Main Street, the atmosphere is modern yet welcoming, with exposed brick and warm natural light flooding in from the floor-to-ceiling windows.

The fare at Chez Tex is decidedly simple, but with the addition of interesting flavors and herbs, every meal is delicious and inspired. Chef Daniela Feldman served a smattering of small yet satisfying plates: gluten-free lemon-blueberry waffles with whipped coconut cream; bean and avocado toast with tomatillo, cilantro, and cherry tomatoes; and soft scrambled eggs with toast and arugula salad.

Every dish was served on our ceramic tableware, which created a perfect canvas to our beautiful meal. With the accompaniment of our linen napkins and beautiful bouquets of springtime blooms by Fiore Designs, the tablescape reminded us of the occasion that gathered us all together, that being the pursuit of beauty and wellness should be simple, natural, and wholly organic.

To commemorate the morning, each guest went home with a gift of True Botanicals’ plant-based skincare products and a hand-poured Jenni Kayne candle, as well as a recipe from the chef herself, and we’re so excited to share it with you. You can recreate the Chez Tex palette right at home with this harissa sweet potato hash, but to recreate the inviting ambiance of this charming café, you might need to become a regular—and we have, gladly!
