A Halloween DIY Party for the Little Ones with Amy Blessing

This is our third year hosting a Halloween party for our little ones and, as always, it was such a fun afternoon. The ever-talented Amy Blessing was my co-host again this time around, and put together the all-black table, handmade treats, and a fun craft project that everyone could participate in. Here are the details on the party, should you be inspired to get a group together this weekend in a similar fashion! XXJKE

The Table & Décor

Since this was a DIY party with children, we used a natural linen tablecloth that could stand up to spills of all varieties. We covered small wooden stools from Fire & Creme with black fabric to tie them in with the table, which was decorated with black plates, glasses, and decorative accents.

Amy picked up most of the table décor at craft and supply stores. She sprayed several small pumpkins with black matte spray-paint, then sprinkled the table and pumpkins with glitter spiders and spider rings, rubber snakes, and cat and bandit masks for the kids to wear.

The Food & Drinks

To drink, we served Pressed Juicery’s charcoal lemonade, which was healthy for the kids and festive on the table. It was perfect. It was a midday event so we didn’t put together a full meal, just assorted cookies—some made with Halloween cookie cutters from Sur La Table—cheddar crackers from the Weeliscius Lunches cookbook, and apples, banana, and strawberries dipped in melted white and milk chocolate.

The Craft Project

For an activity that would keep all of those little hands busy, Amy set up a table so the kids could make their own treat bags for Halloween night. She gave each little one their own tote and set out Halloween stencils and stickers, fabric pens and paint, and black felt letters. The adults helped them with their creations, having just as much fun as the kids!
